nevermind, re-read answer and get it now. If a jehavoas witness doesnt have a card or advanced directive and is unconscious and needs emergent transfusion, the law says we should transfuse, even if the spouse says they wouldn't want it but cannot provide documentation.

Just some real life anecdotes to throw in here, but at one of the hospitals I rotated with, patients who were JW would swear up and down in front of their family members that they refused to be transfused. In private, they would say they wanted to get transfused. I guess the moral of the story is don't assume.
