UW-SVM- Applications C/O 2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey all! I hope you are all doing well! Has anyone happened to hear anything about when they will send decisions, this wait is driving me crazy! I'm trying to not email them and ask them myself to avoid sounding annoying and impatient.

Thanks. I know they made phone calls to OOS last year. That's why I was confused.
I've been out a few years, but at the time I was accepted, most (but not all) of the OOS students got phone calls. The IS students got snail mail. So depending on where you're applying from, you may or may not get a call if you're accepted.

In the email I received from them it says:

We hope that you are enjoying the New Year! We are happy that you have chosen to apply to the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine for the Class of 2022.

This message is to provide you with an update on the progress of the admission cycle. Our admissions committee is in the process of selecting the class. We plan to notify you of the committee's decision by late February. All admission decision materials will be sent via postal mail on the same date. We wanted to share the progress of our review with everyone and to inform you that our Open House for invited applicants will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 12:00-4:30 p.m. If you are invited to join the class of 2022 you will receive more information regarding this event in your acceptance materials.

Are you IS or OOS?

From what I understand they usually do phone calls for oos students since it takes longer for mail to reach them from wisconsin, although they eventually receive a physical letter and just do admission letters for is students.

Anyone think that they might do it this week? Ahh I'm so nervous :/

I hope it’s this week... Considering the open house is on the 23rd, I’m assuming they have to let us know soon... I just want it to be over.

Right if it is this week it would be about a 2 week notice so that seems like a fair amount of time

If it is by snail mail that isn't necessarily enough time because it could take who knows how long to get to some people.

For sure. I’m in Virginia and granted if I get an invite, I *could* go to the open house, but the plane ticket would be $$$ last minute.

Applicant day was March 3 last year, and people were notified Feb 21. I expect a 10-14 day notice, but as everyone has said it likely will not be a lot if time.

If anyone OOS does receive a phone call this week please share! :cat:
Nothing in the mail yet today... like others I'm hoping letters will come this week. The 23rd is creeping up!

I’m OOS - nothing yet here either!

I contacted the Admissions Office and they told me they send out all the letters at once even if you are IS or OOS and that all applicants would receive their letters whether an acceptance/rejection/waitlisted by the beginning of next week! So we should know soon !

I'm going crazy waiting. Did anyone else only apply to Wisconsin?

Are you in-state? Is that why you only applied to UW-Madison? I love your confidence, wishing the best of luck.
Yes I am in state! I am not super optimistic this year (first year applying) but trying to hang in there. Best of luck to you too!

Just received my phone call as well!! (OOS) I'm so shocked and excited I was completely convinced this would be another alternate or rejection, this was the best thing to wake up to!
JUST GOT A PHONE CALL LETTING ME KNOW I WOULD RECEIVE MY LETTER OF OFFER OF ADMISSION IN A FEW DAYS. I'm literally shaking and trying not to cry in class! (OOS)
Also congrats to you guys hopefully I will join you! And best of luck to everyone these next few days

Do all OOS get phone calls?

I was reading through last year’s thread and it looks like some folks who were accepted did not get called - only got the letter in the mail.

I hope we hear soon! I just called them asking if they’ve started sending out notifications and I was told it won’t be until next week all at one time? :/ I guess if people have been called early that means I’m looking forward to bad news :/

Hi everyone! I just called and spoke with Mary (who is the nicest person). She said that only a handful of accepted applicants get a phone call each year, so if you have not gotten one and are IS or OOS, do not give up hope! She was a little vague about the status of the letters, but it seems like they have not been sent out yet. She said that we should receive them "by the end of the week," presumably meaning next week.

I too went the in-state-school-only route the first year. Just wasn't in a position to move out of state at the time. No shame there! Best of luck to you!

I wonder why only a few people get called? Maybe they just call whoever's farthest away since the letters take longer.

Best of luck to everyone!! Hope to see you all there!

Maybe? I'm in AZ

IS, got my letter just now! Intercepted the mailwoman

Edit: Should probably add it was an acceptance letter ( :soexcited::biglove:) postmarked Feb. 9!! I'm just a little too giddy right now and forgot to add those details!
