I checked the forums and there hasen't been much discussion on these two rads programs. I'd love some input, debating ranking them 1 and 2. I listed what I though about each, anyone feel differently? Also, thoughs on ranking these above the usual highly rated programs like MGH/MIR/U Mich?

For UW- loved seattle, that you rotate at different sites and get to experience different hospitals, moonlighting, faculty seemed to really care about resident education, independent night float system, great fellowships. Concerned about cost of living, traffic, getting a job in Washington post- residency.

OHSU- amazingly friendly and down to earth staff and residents, a hospital that looks like Disneyland, all rotations done at same location, good track record of getting people jobs in Oregon, good fellowships especially IR, and Portland is amazing. Concerned about cost of living, smaller class size, and academic reputation of the program ( although new chair seemed motivated to change this).

Depends where you wanna work eventually. If you want to end up in the Pacific Northwest, UW can't be beat, and I would choose it above any other program in the country. Seattle is obviously a very attractive city as well. If you value "prestige" over all else, I wouldn't rank it above MGH, UCSF, MIR, etc. But there is a lot more to picking a program than just "prestige"...

OHSU is a good program, but I wouldn't group it near UW by any means.
