Hey team,

interested in your opinions on whether it would be better to do UWorld twice or Rx and then Uworld. I'm in classes until the end of April and taking my test at the end of may. I'm planning on either finishing a first pass through Uworld or a pass through rx by the beginning of my dedicated study period. Basically I'm a little worried about not doing any new questions outside of nbmes and UWSAs during my dedicated study period, but I have also heard that going through UW twice is worthwhile. Thanks!

RX is 3000 questions. I'm doing RX between now and May 5th, then switching to UWORLD until june 20th.

I'll have at least 1500 RX questions done and then two passes through uworld.

I'm doing UW 2x and then a 3rd time for questions incorrect/marked.

Our school buys us UW for 7 months and recommends we get through it 2x so I figure I will just follow them, do DIT, and hopefully be alright in the end.

Rx has 3000 questions so I figure that I do that along with my school work. I have a six month subscription so hopefully I can finish all of them but its getting difficult to find the time along with school. Anyways after its done I will do Uworld.

I have gone through over half of the qs in rx twice and about 1/10 th in world. I would recommend going through rx twice and world twice. I do atleast 50 qs a day and been doing it since September so it is good to get it nailed into your head. Also go through RR path Qs if you can.

thanks for the feedback guys, I didn't mention that I've already gone through kaplan qbank once and have been doing gunnertraining, so my first aid knowledge is pretty solid. I also got some advice from an upperclassman friend who said that doing uworld twice was very worthwhile, so I ended up deciding to go through UWorld twice and I'll probably try to get through a fair amount of kaplan qbank again too during the intensive period. If i feel like I need some fresh q's i'll pick up a month long rx subscription.

You my friend are a true gunner

I would do UW VERY WELL DONE, and from time to time RX. Rx can be great to help u go thru FA. Good Luck in ur studies....

I would strongly advise against doing uworld twice. When you start going through it a second time all you are doing is recognizing the question and answer choice from when you already went over it. No one can argue against the organization of uworld-it is superior to any other qbank but I think doing it again is much lower yield then adding an additional question bank. My advice would be to do usmlerx first, then do uworld closer to your exam. Thats what I did and felt it helped out immensely. My Usmle score=269.

But I feel like UWORLD should be used as learning tool, not really an assessment tool. And because the concepts in uworld are most representative of what's gonna be in step 1, it's worthwhile to do it twice. So unless you can constantly get near 100% on your second pass, it's good to do it again because that means there's still concept that you didn't understand/forgot the first time through.

And I'll probably do mine subject by subject

You guys are just going through Uworld random questions right, and not doing it subject by subject?

Yup.. I'm doing them totally random. I think it provides a better experience through the test bank, and it also allows you to see your predicted score as you make your way through the test. If you're doing it by subject, it gets boring and will inflate the crap out of your predicted score, since you will be seeing some questions/topics 3-4 time in a 150 question set.

Just my 2-cents. I like seeing new questions and testing my knowledge base before I study it in first aid.

UW- as a learning tool

UW- as a way of self assessment of clinical application and memory check.

There are 2 ways to look at it depending on one's situation. I am curious to know how people are using it.
I face these situations while using it and wonder how people are dealing.

1. Do you review FA/other sources before you do UW. This way the scores are better-this is a feel good factor but they might be artificial if the review is fresh.

2. How do you deal with the dissociation of subjects- eg: reviewing one system in FA while doing another system UW questions.

3. If you do UW before reviewing FA - Adv- it will run quick and easy to annotate and would cover FA but you tend to score less relatively and its depressing.
Any opinions to help.....

My plan has been:
UW first time: by subject after studying studying

UW second time: random

I am trying to decide if I should sign up for USMLE Rx as well. I think I can finish Uworld a second time but I don't think I could finish all of USMLE Rx at the same time.

I use UWorld to prepare for ICM exams at my school. So, if we are doing the renal system I would do two 15 question blocks on the kidney and do one 15 question block on random.
