Does the term "opportunistic disease" no longer have any meaning to the question writers for Uworld???

Good point! I was annoyed when I first saw that, but none of the other answer choices made any sense and they didn't have bartonella as a choice. But, yeah, not sure why someone with a cd4 count that high would have kaposis.

i had the same issue with that question too. As i had it explained to me, KS in general is more common among the HIV population, even if their CD counts are pretty damn good. And like MD-2013 pointed out, none of the other options made any sense.

i didnt think kaposi's sarcoma required a low cd4 count.. in any case, unless they literally mention a cat scratching the pt then im going to choose kaposis sarcoma for an aids pt with purple patches.
