UWSA and Kaplan - Need Advice

UWSA- Are these tests worth the time? Should I just stick to NBME?

Kaplan- I've done enough questions where I'll have ~40 46-Q blocks remaining. Is it feasible to do Kaplan and Uworld in 40 days?

My plan is: 1st aid, pathoma (1section/day), goljian audio (1hr/night), Uworld qbank, Kaplan qbank, NBME exams (all of them-review 1st aid per the topics I do bad on). (possibly UWSA?)

I just want to know if I'm overshooting, or if I put the pedal to the medal I can knock this **** out?

That's a lot of frickin questions man...even if you do 2 blocks of kaplan a day it'll still take 20 days. It'll take more than 20 days at that point to do the entire thing of UWorld at 2 blocks a day because it's like 2200 questions and that's all without doing any NBMEs. You can crank up the number of blocks but even at 3 blocks a day you'll barely cram it all in (it'll take like 30 days).

If there was one thing I'd drop from there it'd probably be Kaplan but that's just me. I personally just stopped doing the Kaplan Qbank (I did a little less than 1000 ques) because everyone says that UWorld is more bang for your buck when you're crunched for time. I'll probably go back and finish the Kaplan neuro, anatomy and behavioral questions when I finish UWorld (doing 2 blocks a day right now) because I hear tell that those seem to be the better sections.

Yea I know I don't want to be unreasonable that's why I'm throwing the question out there lol. I'd really like to pound through all of that somehow. I was thinking maybe of doing 2 blocks of Uworld, and whatever time is left in the day to do as many kaplan blocks as I can, and if I don't finish it don't be heart broken over it. What's your opinion on UWSA?

I personally liked the UWSA more than the NBME exams. Think about it, the NBME practice tests are basically retired questions, i.e. you aren't going to see the exact same questions on your test. I had a few word-for-word questions from my UWSAs on the real deal. On top of that, I found the predictive value of the UWSAs to be much more accurate than that of the NBMEs.

Word for word, really? nice. the questions on the practice nbmes may not get repeated word for word, but theyll show up again in slightly reworded questions. Im doing both anyways.

If that means you hang out with your girlfriend from midnight till 2am and then do questions from 2-3am, then do it. Just get as many questions done as you can.

Yes pholston we all know your strategy. Not all of us have time to do Rx+Kaplan+UWorld+WebPath+1000 other questions. Most of us try to give recommendations based on what a reasonable person who doesn't have a year to study for Step 1 would give.

He's trying to figure out if it's actually reasonable to do that many questions. Of course one should try to do as many questions as you can. I can say do 1000 questions a day but that doesn't mean you could actually do it.

I don't think so. Knowing fewer sources really, really well > Knowing many, not very well.

Stick to First Aid + USMLE World + Pathoma. That is already A LOT in 40 days. Coming close to the date, if you feel you are weak in certain areas, supplement them. If I have to recommend something, then I would recommend Kaplan Anatomy QBank. That's it.

I hate to repeat myself, but people underrate how important it is to know FAid verbatim.

You work on both. Do a question set, go through the answers (while annotating in FA), and then read a section of FA. Repeat.
