I just did UWSA : 247, i don't know how it was graded, but I am not complaining, However, I am still not confident for the exam. I will do NBME 6 day after and see how that goes. After reading every ones experience on this forum I can't seem to get myself to take the exam. It is freaking me out cause I am not a good test taker. Will go through my weak areas and hopefully take the real deal by 7th (if I don;t chicken out already!)
can any one suggest a source to improve my biostats, I am absolutely horrible and don't understand drug ads or anything. Any videos tat might help?

P.S- I saw someone who got a 242 on uwsa and failed the real deal. Now, since everyone here seems to trust their assessments wonder what went wrong there. Also, there must be a difference between an IMG and AMG knowledge.

so many feelings right now!

any last minute tips, inputs?

Read the Step 1 FA section on biostats, that one is great, also the biostats in Step 2 secrets is good. Honestly, don't freak out. Your test taking skills won't change with more preparation, trust your assessments. Think about it, if you can't trust that than what can you go on? No one EVER goes into these exams feeling confident or prepared.

Personal anecdote but the calmer you are during your exam, I think the better you will score. Develop a plan - Read the question that is being asked first, then go back and read the stem - this is how I did it. Pick an answer, move on, forget about it. Mark the ones you want to stew about a little more, but you likely won't have time. I got a 242 on my UWSA and did better than that on the real deal - so there you go - the other side of the coin getting a 242 on UWSA and still passing.

@OrthoPathic, thank you for the input, yes, i did read FA step 1 but still don't seem to understand those as I remember they are just points and I learn better when some one is explaning it to me. I wonder what relevance biostat has anyways, but they are 12-15 qs and i don't want to give away easy questions.

@Soilworkgmbh Yes, the thing is I brain freeze and the timing doesn't help either. While doing uwsa and nbme I am at home in my area and that obviously helps. I normally work well under pressure, but this sees a little too intimidating. Well, don't have a choice. Thank you for your input and showing me the other side 🙂 i am worried about the vagueness and not being able to understand what is going on and freezing. My mind starts to shut and panic when I can't answer some questions. Hope i can over come that.

There will invariably be questions that you won't know the answer to, just gotta get good at answering, marking, and move on. Use your time to answer the ones you know. Oh and save the biostatistics abstracts for last, I used that technique and it worked nicely with time

If someone got a 242 on UWSA but failed the real thing they either cheated on UWSA or something crazy happened, like they fell asleep during the test or freaked out and ran out of the exam. If you take the UWSA under real exam conditions you will score within 5-10 points on the real deal.

Well, or they completely blanked out like I do! My mind stops processing information. I read, but I am not really reading. Need to overcome that From now on I just need to know that I can do this and it will all work out!
Thank you 🙂

As planned, did nbme 6 today, score dropped by 5 points. But, i am satisfied. Weird how the scores vary from UWSA and NBME. Got more right on nbme and got a lower score.

For some reason, doing an nbme drained me as compared to uwsa. It maybe because I did it around the afternoon. Ok, so asthma and COPD really frustrate me. They always have a pt with both the findings, any tips on how to differentiate them?

@Jlaw I was wondering if I should do NBME4 as well? I have a week and just want to spent that revising and taking free 150 or 131 before the real deal.

Reversibility defines Asthma. Your patient population is generally different as well. COPD is usually gonna be older and chronic smoker.

I thought NBME 4 was helpful.
