Sorry to hear that 🙁. I can imagine how annoying ti must me. I still did not hear back from ANY of my schools and am still hoping and praying. Now that I think of it this application process has made me a more spiritual person haha.

What are you stats?

Aw, I am sorry to hear that my friend, I'm sure other schools will be sending you them interviews soon. Keep ya head up.👍

Considering your stats I think it is strange you didn't get invited for an interview. Hopefully you have other prospects.

Sorry to hear that. I'm also a UW alumni with similar GPA and DAT scores. This makes me kind of uneasy :/

Maybe it had something to do with your personal statement?

@steve similar dat score? you kidding me bro? lol 23AA 22 TS 25 PAT 24 RC is far superior to mine haha i don't think my personal statement was the reason i got rejected. As far as I'm concerned UW heavily weighs the basic science, e.g. bio, gchem, ochem, gpas compared to other classes, and guess what? i didn't do so well in those classes, mediocre(less than 3.3) best. I was hoping that being an honor student(had to take honor science classes) for my freshmen year would cancel out my mediocre gpa but it was just wishful thinking

Did you get secondary application at least? I'm just filling out my secondary application. WA resident too.

@kaye yup I submitted mine in early august.

Dude that is rough I'm really sorry to hear that, I would have definitely thought you would get an interview at least given your stats, because your gpa isnt ridiculously low. Wow if you got rejected recently maybe mine is coming too... Did they send you a rejection over email or over snail mail?

What did you mainly focus on in your personal statement? I think I had a pretty unique one with my family experience which is what is keeping me in at this point. Maybe the person who read your app just didn't connect with your personal statement? I know UW is all about being involved in the community so maybe they didn't feel like you were fully committed to the "community aspect" of dental work?

I obviously am just throwing things out and taking a shot in the dark, you may have been very committed to community work but I am just listing potential reasons.

I'm sorry to hear man! UW was my state school (UW grad here) and I was literally the first person they interviewed last year; I was rejected on Dec 1st haha. The good news is that I got in to other schools, so it was no worries 🙂 I guess what I am saying is that I love it here at UConn, so don't worry too much about it. There are other fish in the sea for you, and I hope the best for you in the rest of your applications!! 👍:luck:

Ya you will never why and how schools decide who to give interviews. Its a mystery.....

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

@Rsalha i got the rejection letter over email. I used my unique story ( I was the guardian for my brother while he was in highschool, so practically I was a single dad for few yrs in college lol) and other experiences I've been through my life and tied it back to why I would be a good dental student and a good dentist further down the road. (I'm not much of a writier so I got professional proof reading service)

@bereno thanks for the encouragement bud! I'm not fretting over this rejection too much. Like I said, it is what it is. Why get stressed out over something I don't have control over right? haha

@salha how was the western interview? I still have to submit my sup app for western (I was out of country for 2mos because my great grand ma passed away) but I think its too late to submit.

Wow man that is crazy I'm really sorry to hear that you already got rejected. That is kind of BS, have you tried to email them asking why yet?

And I thought the Western interview went really well thanks for asking. I was really interested in the school they have a fantastic program with the Interprofessional Learning Program, the facilities are nice, and you could tell all the students really liked the school and the program. They also have a lot of opportunities to get involved with community service which is why I particularly loved the school. They have a strong desire to help the community, and specifically there are a lot of programs that cater to hispanic families which I thought was really cool because that will allow me to utilize my spanish speaking skills (I'm actually arabic but I studied in spain and have been waiting for a chance to really use my spanish speaking to connect with others). Anyway, I would apply there still if I were you, I feel like they like to give people a chance with unique stories even if their grades arent the best.

Good luck to you!
