I am not sure how to decide between University of Washington and Rush University in Chicago. I believe they both have flipped classroom learning so that is neutralized (i think it sounds good actually for my learning style)
UWSOM:
Pros:
RUMC:
Pros:
Any insight or opinions would be helpful. I am not entirely sure how they stack up next to each other ranking-wise. I feel like they focus on very different things urban vs rural, so it is hard to compare.
UWSOM:
Pros:
- Better reputation (i think?)
- Slightly cheaper over 4 years by about $42,000 (including cost of living etc)
- Closer to home, easier/cheaper to relocate
- I would be in Spokane for the first 18 months then have to relocate again
- for rotations it is uncertain where I'll be- lots of moving around
- I went to UW for undergrad and am kind of tired of the area and weather
- focus on primary care/rural health- not sure if I want to do that or not
RUMC:
Pros:
- Loved Chicago and location- would look forward to moving there
- Really like the interview day and the mission and vibe from the school
- Diverse population and great location to train
- access to all sorts of specialties and possibly better for matching into a non-primary care residency (not sure about this?)
- Slightly more expensive~ $42k over 4 years including living expenses
- worse reputation (??)
- I'd have to relocate further away- more stressful/costly
