HI no clue what to consider other then this- if you are able to even put stuff in prospective, that would be so appreciated

MCW
Pros
  • NBME style exams
  • 18 month preclinical
  • academic center
  • love the facilities

Cons
  • not big city

UICOM
Pros
  • Big city
  • academic center
  • NBME style exam
  • 18 month preclinical

Cons
  • facilities are not the greatest
RUSH
Pros
  • love the facilities
  • strong hospital
  • big city
  • I think this hospital has the best reputation?

Cons
  • in house exams
  • 2 year preclinical I believe
  • I am pretty sure you can get research but it wont be as easy as UICOM for example

milwaukee may not be big, but it isnt too far from chicago.

do you get IS tuition at UICOM? its significantly cheaper than MCW/Rush for illinois residents, which could be a big factor too.

To add to your list on everything, Milwaukee downtown is pretty dope and COL is more affordable than Chicago, depending on where you live. Though the school is outskirts of the city. idk much about UICOM itself but Rush is 10k more expensive than UICOM, so if you're in state it seems very sensible to go there. Also, UICOM and Rush both benefit from rotating and proximity to Stroger. Rush though definitely has the better hospital with the nicer equipment. Being a big hospital has the perks of great research in their surgical specialties but some are lacking whereas UICOM probably has some more and diverse options.

MCW student here. go where it will be cheapest. overall rush and mcw are comparable in pricing I think--with Rush having a higher outside living cost likely due to Chicago being more expensive. My friend is M1 at Rush and we have very different curriculums, MCW newer curriculum is a little annoying in that it's not very NBME-focused, whereas I think Rush may have more alignment in their curriculum to Step1. However, MCW's new curriculum makes it 1.5yrs preclinical and we get into the clinicals faster. So M2 year is hard at MCW whereas later in M3/M4 I assume we will be chilling.
at the end of the day, all med schools are similar and will get you to what you need which is a residency so I would choose it based on your support system and financials, but from my experience I like MCW's quicker curriculum and getting into clinicals quicker. Also we barely have any mandatory in class sessions whereas I know my friend at Rush goes in like 4 days a week to class and kinda is annoyed by it. They have more tests and quizzes at Rush as well, whereas MCW has like 1/2 big exams per block and you just need a pass on those tests to move on. So, I find it very easy to just use my own outside party resources and step prep rather than focusing on the MCW curriculum (in house). Don't listen to any admin convincing you that in house content is key to success, bc they are lying lol and it's very much third-party is the way to do well on boards.

Idk much about UICOM, but I assume it's similar to MCW with a shorter 1.5yrs preclinical tbh, with Rush and MCW having the most "well-known" hospital systems. If I had gotten into Rush + MCW +UICOM, I may have chosen Rush just based on my preference living in a larger city alone but knowing what I know now, I'd go wherever was cheapest as you will match well into residency at any of the options.

hope this helps and ofc I'm biased here but feel free to message me any questions you have.
