Hi, everyone. Does anyone know much about the VA Greater Los Angeles residency for PM & R? I have looked at FREIDA and have tried to find a direct link for the program, but can't seem to find much information about it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like some info also. I couldn't find anything about this program neither.

What type of information were you looking for specifically? I don't know that much about the program, but I did interview there. I think they take ten people per year (largest PM&R program in CA). All the calls are from home, with the toughest call months being at Rancho. I've heard that they may be losing the rotations at Rancho though so you might want to ask about that when you interview. Trying sending a PM to sdntran because I think he's a resident there.

Thanks! I will try to get in touch with sdntran.

I was leafing through this PMR journal (dunno the name, it was one of my dad's) earlier this year that stated that Rancho was closing down...🙁

Anyone else hear this?

Rancho is still open, but it was taken over by Loma Linda. The Loma Linda PD fills these spots as a seperate residency from Loma Linda- outside the match starting at the PGY-2 level.

oops didn't even notice it's originally from 2003. But it was already resurrected by the time I posted. 🙂 I'm still trying to learn more about the program myself.

how in the world did a thread from 2003 get resurrected??

Searching for info...

There was very little on this program. I was specifically wondering if their pain program favors their own.

When I interviewed there (for residency), they did say that their own candidates do get somewhat higher consideration for a position in the pain fellowship. Obviously, though, they do take outside residents.

Oh and with respect to the comment above about Rancho - residents in the program will be rotating there for TBI. (6 weeks) Even though for the past few years (I think) residents have not rotated there, the program maintained their affiliation with Rancho. One of the other hospitals they used for rotations is closing (Centinela) and so residents are going back to Rancho.
