Hi all,

I took NBME CCSSA Form 1 today, and I had question about a question (...). I don't have the exact question handy, but it was something along these lines:

A 55 year old male presents in your clinic for a regular visit. (Basically it said he was healthy.) He has not been to a doctor in over 10 years. Which of the following is recommended for this patient:

1. Pneumococcal vaccine
2. Influenza vaccine
3. Td vaccine
4. Hep B vaccine
5. Something else (..)

I wasn't sure if I should choose influenza or Td. Td is every 10 years, and influenza is yearly. Which of those would have been the more appropriate answer and why?

I know there is a push to use TDaP over Td so maybe thats what they are getting at. But the fact that they say has not been in over 10 years and the fact that booster is every 10 years for tetanus makes me want to pick TD.
