I'm about seven months through my intern year at the moment and I'm seriously considering leaving after it's over. I'm interested in other opportunities outside of clinical medicine – I do have a lot of work experience and education experience outside of my MD. My question then is – for fields like consulting or international organizations or healthcare management, does anyone think they can give informed answer as to whether these types of employers value completion of the intern year at all?
I would say in the case of applying to a healthcare consulting firm or perhaps an international aid relief organization, where you're likely position would involve something where understanding medicine and clinical practice would be relevant and helpful. Obviously I haven't done too much into this which is why am asking here – thanks!
