Hi, how helpful would an mph be in getting a residency in PM&R. I know that other things are more important, but does an mph give an any advantage in getting into PM&R and if so how much?

As a PGY2 candidate with an MPH, I doubt that it would effect your competitiveness for a residency unless you have specific plans as to how you will be using your MPH for various research projects.

I'm leaning more towards the policy side, and I've been up front as to my possibly pursuing a Health Admin or Policy degree, as well as becoming active again in professional groups in residency.

Hi,

I am a resident in PM&R at Georgetown/NRH. I also have a MPH from George Washington Univ.

To be perfectly honest, I am not sure how helpful a MPH is in acquiring a residency program. It certainly looks good and might even give you an edge in dealing with the complexities of managed care as well as appeal to research-heavy residency programs.

Overall, probably not a difference-maker but certainly something that will make you stand-out against other similarly competitive applicants.
