Hey Guys,

I got an interview at Vandy on Oct. 28. I have a few questions:

Which hotel is most affordable but at the same time closest to the med school?

Is Nashville Airport very busy? How far ahead do I need to get to the airport before departure? I need to time departure just right so that i can make it to work the next day.

Any other general advice about vandy interview would be helpful also.

Thanks,

GOBUCKY!

The Nashville airport is not very busy at all. I would suggest flying southwest if you can, its cheap and afforadable, flies direct from most places to Nashville. There are a load of hotels within walking distance of the university. Hampton Inn is probably about a ten minute walk to the medical center and is pretty affordable.

Try the Guesthouse, which is maybe a block farther from the med school than the Hampton. It's the cheapest hotel near campus and has a shuttle that you can take to the med center if you don't want to walk.

I arrived at the Nashville airport at 6:00pm for a 6:15pm flight (don't try this), and I boarded the plane at 6:10 (got a good workout running through the airport). I recommend you get to the airport at least 45-50 minutes before your flight leaves.

hey guys,

I have a quick question about vandy accomadations as well...

I have an interview on Oct 8th...flight arrangements are all settled...and I asked for a student host a few weeks ago but haven't heard back yet...should I go ahead and book a hotel?

Thanks 👍

The Hampton Inn is in walking distance. There is a Shoney's Inn and a Days Inn that are both within cheap ($5) cab ride distance and are enough cheaper than the Hampton to make it worth it if you're seriously trying to budget.

Or you could try the Loews Vanderbilt right across the street from the campus 😀

It's a little more expensive, but try expedia.com for a good deal on it.

Book a hotel in case you don't get a host (you should be able to cancel the day of). Try to get a host - your chances of getting an honest picture of the school is much better.

They didn't have a host for me either but I emailed the guy to ask if I could have dinner with someone. That way, you get a good night's sleep in a hotel (instead of couch in someone's room) and you get to talk to some students.

Okay I may not know exactly where to stay, but I do know to stay away from the hampton Inn and Holiday Inn. Those are WAY overpriced. Reason I know is that a bunch of my friends' parents have come into town to see them and have stayed there and they are mucho expensive. Forget about Loews. I think anything else should be fine.
