What does it take to match at Vanderbilt for CAP? It's a nationally known university/hospital but that doesn't mean that CAP fellowship is at that level. How competitive is it? How would it compare to a program in New York or Boston in terms of competitiveness? I want to live in the Vanderbilt area long-term for personal and family reasons and I'm wondering how feasible matching their for CAP would be.

I mean, BCH went unfilled recently, child psych is generally not that competitive.

Many child applicants only apply to their home program. Competitiveness is more a function of the # of home applicants than anything else. This will vary yearly.
I was about to mention that I interviewed at a couple of residency programs that cap the number of home applicants they take in their child program for this reason (and because sometimes it's good to get outside talent.)

Whereas we don't even put our child slots in the match because we have too many home applicants who reliably want to do child at our institution that it is easier not to bother.
