No, were they mailed on the 10th? If so, it will be at least tomorrow before I get it I think.

And my last post was too pessimistic since there actually HAS been movement recently. 🙂 Unfortunately, Dr. Helderman is just not calling me yet.
 
My Life is stained by sin and selfishness. I am obsessesed with myself and getting into medical school. It is all I think about. Please forgive me. Please.

I got a letter from them saying that they narrowed down the waitlist and have decided to retain my application in this smaller pool (despite the fact that I withdrew months ago!). Anyone else get this letter?

Good, that means there's one less person on the wait list than they thought! Well, congrats anyway. At least it's a confidence booster. I hope I get the same letter . . . still nothing in the mail today.
 
I got the same letter today as wildcat. I have to say the part about "bearing with us in the weeks ahead" was amusing. I've been bearing with them for several months now!

Well congratulations! Good luck! There don't seem to be many people following this thread anymore. At least not many posters.
 
Woohoo! I got the same letter today! I wonder if they actually did cut it down. From last year's thread, it seemed there were originally 600 people on the wait list and they cut it down to 300, which is not very encouraging. I really hope they've cut it a little smaller than that.

I don't know if this still holds, but Helderman told me a while back that they send this final letter to about a 100 people and usually about 20 people decline to stay on the WL.

I'm still holding out and got that exact same letter. God I hate all this waiting!

I was planning to go to Vandy this year but I got off Northwestern's waitlist (today at 5pm!!) so I will be attending Northwestern. 😀 In which case, there will definitely be one spot opening up for you!

I called the admissions office today to update my contact info b/c I will be gone for the rest of the summer, and I asked Jennifer how many people were left on the WL. She said 400 people. 😱 So definitely not a 100. Why on earth do they keep it so big?!

Well, for what's it worth, good luck to everyone in the next month!

What kind of stats u need to get into Vandy minimum?

Will a 34Q and a 3.6-3.7 with a TON of experiences get me an interview or does my GPA doom me?

Wow, that is crazy. Dr. Sagen told me last week that the waitlist is very stable and she doesn't expect much movement this year. That being said, 400 is A LOT of people who won't be hearing anything.

last years avg. for entering class was something like 11.3 avg and 3.77gpa. Your GPA won't keep you from an interivew at all.
 
Hey guys, I have been following this thread for a while and wanted to give you some heads up on the process. I got the call yesterday morning and was given 24 hours to decide and I chose Vandy. Dr. H. said that no one has withdrawn in the last couple of weeks and that only recently someone asked for a deferral and got it (hence why he called me). One piece of advice: if you really want to go to Vandy then show Dr. H. that. Send him emails and letters and call (not obsessively but enough to where he won't forget your name). He is very understanding and will def. listen to you. Good luck guys and hang in there.
 
Just out of curiosity, would you mind sharing what your stats are? I'm hoping for just a general idea of what kind of students are currently at the top of the waitlist still.

I talked to Jennifer a few days ago. She said there are 350 people still on the "shortened waitlist".
 
I just got off the wait list and I am ecstatic! It's funny, I had my whole next year planned out, and this afternoon I get a phonecall from Pat Sagen and I am soooo glad. I just can't believe this. I'd like to thank you all for your encouragement and your help throughout this whole process.

I'm very disappointed to hear that I wasn't the very last person taken off of the waitlist. That would have been some sort of twisted honor. In any case, congrats, and see you in a couple weeks...

Mine are 3.85 (according to my undergrad institution) and 3.84 (according to AMCAS) and 33 M MCAT. See, writing doesn't matter that much! Plus, I am actually a decent writer and my PS and autobiography probably showed that. Good luck!
