The Department of Neurology at the University of New Mexico Health Center is accepting applications outside the NMRP for our Vascular Neurology fellowship program. We have two positions open outside the match starting July 2023.

Our program is ACGME-accredited and provides trainees with an intensive educational experience in managing patients at-risk for and suffering from cerebrovascular disease. At the conclusion of their year, fellows are eligible to sit for the Vascular Neurology boards.

UNM Hospital is currently a Joint Commission-certified advanced primary stroke center caring for approximately 700 ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients each year. As the only tertiary care center in the state, UNMH serves a diverse patient population from many different socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

Fellows will have opportunities to see and treat a large variety of disease entities, including Moya-Moya disease, familial cerebral cavernous malformations, and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

We pride ourselves in providing cutting-edge, comprehensive care for stroke patients in an academically stimulating, collegial, multidisciplinary environment.

Our stroke faculty is comprised of eight board-certified vascular neurologists, five of whom are also board-certified in neurocritical care and add unique expertise to our care for critically-ill stroke patients. We also have two dedicated stroke advanced practice providers.
