I wonder why this thread is so inactive... lol.

Anyway, quick question. I received an email from VCOM confirming they got my payment and supplemental. They said they are waiting on my LORs which they should've gotten on 8/19 via interfolio. I assume it takes a couple days for them to download and verify LORs... correct? Or should I call them?

I got the same email and I sent my letters by Interfolio the same day you did. I am assuming they are just letting us know they got the app and money...perhaps they have a lot of LORs to sift through...even if they are electronic.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this school! I got my application all in and processed! Crossing my fingers for an interview. For the LOR make sure that you wrote the right info because my pre health committee director is different from the person that wrote the letter for the committee so i had to change that in my application and resubmit it. Just a heads up!

Yes, finally received the "complete" e-mail almost a month after submitting all necessary documents. Hopefully we'll start hearing some real news soon! 👍

Nope. I've been complete since 8/24 so not it hasn't been too long, but I'm super anxious too! haha hopefully we'll hear back soon after they're done scheduling in all the early applicants.

I'm in a similar situation as UTKpremed. I was invited to interview (regular decision) by the SC campus on Tuesday. I was complete on 8/19. Because of a scheduling conflict, I was given the choice of three interview dates in September. It looks like they're interviewing often at the SC campus.

Does anyone know if the two branches operate independently, like LECOM, or if they're still very much connected? Also, I keep reading mixed reviews on the curriculum changes at VCOM. Anyone know if that sort of stuff has been settled or if it's still an ongoing process?

As I understand, they interview you at the campus you put as your top preference on the secondary, or they pick for you if you put no preference. The interview is to matriculate into that campus in particular, I don't know if you would have a choice to switch after or not if you got in. But based of off that, I would guess that they operate pretty much independently.

Since you're at the SC campus, do you know how it's decided who gets to stay in Spartanburg during clinical rotations? I keep reading it'll only be able to hold 40-50 students.

When folks sent in the secondary to the admissions email address, was there an auto reply stating the email was received and would be verified or something? I've sent two emails to the admissions email address with no response (one with a question, one with the secondary) and want to make sure I didn't end up in a spam filter somewhere. Paranoid, I know.

There was no automated response. A few days after I sent my application I sent an e-mail just to make sure it was received and it took them at least a couple days to get back to me after that, so I wouldn't worry yet. And if you can't be paranoid and a little neurotic on a pre-med forum then where can you? No worries, good luck!

I didn't hear anything from VCOM after submission until I got a "complete" email. That took about two weeks.

Since you're at the SC campus, do you know how it's decided who gets to stay in Spartanburg during clinical rotations? I keep reading it'll only be able to hold 40-50 students.

There is only a set number of rotation spots in Spartanburg and while we haven't really talked about rotations yet/ I wasn't paying attention too much I think it goes like this...next year we rank our preferences for rotations, those with families, spouses, or other ties making it important for them to stay here get first dibs. After the rotation placement happens you can swap with people if you didn't get where you wanted and you find someone willing to switch. Right now we have 4 or 5 other locations in SC in some nice places like near Myrtle beach and Dr. Januchoswki, our rotations coordinator, is still working on getting sites so there may be more available in our area soon. A lot of us want to go elsewhere for rotations because we don't plan on practicing in SC anyway so I don't think we will be fighting over those spots in Spartanburg.

Got an invite too! If anyone is flying into Roanoke airport, there is a sort of bus/shuttle called The Smart Way bus, and it connects the airport to VCOM campus and also blacksburg/VT area too. So if you stay in blacksburg, there are a lot of buses to get around. If anyone needs any help, I'm the gal to ask 🙂

I called after a week of no confirmation e-mails just to make sure everything was received, and they were very nice. They assured me they had everything and the e-mail would get sent to me...eventually.

If anyone needs any advice/help, I'll try my best. If you love this school, I want you to get in. I had people help me with the process and would love to return the favor to others.

I doubt it, when I called last week (or maybe the week before?) the lady said I should find out near the end of October, which seems like forever from now, but I guess it just takes a while. We'll just have to keep hoping , and wait & see.

According to the letter I got it says we have until December 14th to submit the deposit ($1500) and a preliminary background check. I don't know if I should just go ahead and submit the deposit now (I seriously LOVE VCOM) or wait and see if i hear anything from other schools...

Is VCOM your first choice? If so then ya.. You do have a ton of time though, so there's no rush... Mine says November, but i was an EDP applicant so I think thats why. I plan on sending my check in within the next few days.

Why bother submitting now when you have 2.5+ months still to decide. You don't want to make any hasty decisions if this is not your clear number one choice school. You acceptance isn't going anywhere by waiting 😉

The acceptance letter says we need to be graduated by this spring, but I remember Mr. Corvin saying that if we need to take summer classes that is fine.. Am i correct?

I didn't get a complete email. I submitted my secondary on 9/19. Fast turn around. I am a VA resident though, maybe that helped.
