VCOM post bacc 2015-2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok so I heard they usually send their acceptance emails on Fridays. May the odds be ever in our favor 🙂 If I don't hear something soon then I guess it's bye bye vcom and a hesitant 'hello' to Rowan 🙁

Same with me! I'm waiting until the 19th and then it's going to be LECOM for me. 🙁 Sadness all around. I had already started looking at apartments in Blacksburg and everything. 🙁

Why not LECOM? I missed their app deadline but it looked like a sweet deal. 23 Mcat and 3.0 gpa in the post bacc.? That sounds really good! The reason why I was pushing for vcom is because of their global outreach programs and I also shadowed a doctor who had medical students with him and some came from vcom and spoke so highly about the school.

But what will be will be. Good luck comrade! If I hear something, be it bad or good, I will let you know!

That's why I've been rooting for VCOM also: I've heard it's a great school and I've heard good things about the area. I haven't heard much about LECOM. Thank you, and I'll let you know also! 🙂 Good luck!! 🙂

Hey guys, just withdrew my acceptance, hope it opens up a spot for one of you.

Good luck to everyone! I'll be declining my spot and freeing it up for someone else! I was complete April 7th and accepted June 9th. However, by the time VCOM accepted me I had already been accepted into the LMU DCOM program. The staff so far at DCOM has been very responsive and they accepted me into the program 1 week after I submitted my application. They also have an anatomy boot camp that I'm looking forward to attending before classes start.

I received this update today:

"Thank you for the updates. We are continuing to process applications and materials received, however, we have not processed and reviewed your application at this time. We received an unprecedented number of applications for the program this year and the admissions committee is currently reviewing application files completed. We will continue to process and review files until the class is filled, or until such time that it is no longer feasible for students to reasonably move and make plans to beginning the program with us. Should the class fill before we are able to review your file, and all materials are in, we will follow up with you, via email, with potential next steps.

Best Wishes,
Alisa Hewitt
Admissions Coordinator"

Wow that does not sound good for us 🙁 I think it's time for me to put VCOM to rest. I wish you the best amigo! Hope you get that acceptance email!

Got my acceptance email today. Pretty late so now scrambling to find a place to live/financial aid

I just got accepted today as well. Anyone know where the closest apartments are to where the program is/anyone still looking for a roommate?

Just got my acceptance letter! I am so relieved right now!
Very overwhelming all the stuff I have to get in before the 10th !! But I'm very happy! Hang in there anyone who's still waiting!

Congrats all! The knollwood apartments are gonna be your best option as all three complexes are within walking distance. They moved the actual post-bacc room this year about 100 yards away and it's now directly across from the crossing at knollwood complex.

I got the same email when I asked. I pretty much gave up on this school when that was her reply. Hopefully the people who have not heard back Alisa applied to other school and got into them. I would rather have gotten a rejection letter/email instead of feeling like I am in limbo. Thank god I got into a different school or I would be really frustrated as I wait. Good luck to everyone. I really hope everyone gets an opportunity to get into whichever program you applied to!

Hey everyone! I am applying to the 2016 VCOM post bacc program. I was wondering for the professional letter of recommendation, do you think it would hurt my chances if it isn't from an MD or DO but from the professor I did anundergraduate research fellowship with?

I didn't get the impression that it would. However, if you don't have an MD or DO reference, a long term employer recommendation would suffice. (Or so the admissions office has said)

3.2 undergrad GPA 510 MCAT -- If you want any specific info about the program, feel free to ask
I was wondering if you could share some pros and cons about the program 🙂

Hey guys! The guaranteed admission agreement listed "Exceptional evaluations from Post-Baccalaureate Program Faculty and Staff, endorsing student for admission" as one of the requirements. Does it mean having 3.6 GPA and 24 MCAT cannot guaranteed you a seat in the med school anymore? Say, for whatever untold reason, they can refuse to offer you a seat because they simply can?

I guess "technically". That's why you see everyone posting about it literally being a year long interview. Adhere to all of their policies with integrity, including dress code, and I am sure it won't be an issue..

I know on the accepted students page it says that for computer recommendations, they would like for us to have a Windows computer instead of a Mac. Did anyone with a Mac have a lot of trouble or was a Mac still okay to use? I have a Mac that's in great condition, and pretty expensive. I really don't want to buy a new computer if I don't have too.

The 3.0 at LECOM sounds easy but in reality it's absolutely f***ing brutal. Hellacious.
