Hi,
I'm about to apply to the Accelerated Master's program in Child Health at VCU. I was hoping to find out how competitive it is (I had a 3.7 College GPA and a 1200 on the GRE), and also if I will be able to work while I'm in it. How intense is it and does the work load significantly increase/decrease after the first year and half. Finally, if you had to apply again would you still choose to attend VCU - why? Thanks so much for you advice! 🙂

I doubt you'll find someone on here who has gone through that exact same program. However, your GPA and GRE scores seem competitive for all the programs I have been looking at. I doubt you will be able to work during the program as even normal paced programs strongly suggest against it, especially during the clinical times. You might be able to work part time during the classroom time.

You would probably get better information at allnurses.com. Try this page:

As usual it is good to read over previous threads that may address your question. There is a large discussion thread at the top on "Becoming an NP with little or no nursing experience" that may answer some of your questions.

Hi. This is Mike's woman 😉 If you want me to pick up any information for you on the nursing programs at VCU, I'm on the medical campus all day... all week... from 12th street to the hospital (aka all over). Just let me know. Good luck.
