Hi guys...those of you that have applied or applying to either one of these programs...what did you think of the personal statement topic. I thought it was going to be about your life experiences etc. or being able to talk about something that can't be seen in ur transcripts/LORs/ exam scores.

this is from BU

"Write a statement of not less than 200 words describing your qualifications and the objectives of your educational program. Report any research activities, publications, independent studies, and memberships in academic, professional, or honorary societies. Account for time that has elapsed between formal studies. Applicants for teaching fellowships should indicate previous teaching experience"

I have my Bachelor's degree in psych....did my own post-bacc and took the DATs..... but they will see all of that when I send my scores and stuff. I don't have any publications or teaching fellowships. what approach should I take to discuss my qualifications?

this is from VCU

"Insert "Statement of Purpose" here. Please review your interest areas and describe what you want to do with your degree. NOTE: 32,000 characters equals approx 4 pages of text"

what i want to do with my degree is get into dental school. I jus don't want to mess this up. any info would help. Thanx

I cant comment on the BU one but for the VCU one: Talk about your end goal of dentistry, how the program will help you acheive that goal and how the program will help you go beyond what the normal dentistry curriculm provides (research, wider background etc)

If your scores are even halfway decent this should be more of a formality for the VCU program.
