Vcu d.5

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm interested in this too. I would also like to know how many people get in this program and if it is worth it to apply to VCU just for a shot at this program.

Does anyone know when VCU sends out the D.5 invites? Or has anyone already received one from this cycle?

VCU has not yet made D.5 offers this cycle (afaik). They won't give a firm date, but it could be given as early as this week and as late as the end of the month. More typically happens ~end of this week/beginning of nextish.

Approximately 10 get in each year, can be 1-2 more. While VCU is not a bad school to apply to from out of state, as it accepts a good amount of out of staters and is middle of the road on acceptance stats, the D.5 is typically given to in-staters, possibly exclusively, and is targeted towards people who have some sort of extenuating circumstance, like a low gpa that was raised later, etc.

do you know if VCU immediately contact the alternates if someone withdrew their offer?

I know someone who was contacted by phone today for a D.5 offer. He was an in-stater. Last year I received a letter around this time offering a D.5 position. It was actually around the 15th. You can always call the school to dig for info. Sometimes you can score a little 411.
Good luck and God speed!

I don't, but i imagine it is in a timely manner, within a week or two, as march/april there is a lot of deposit juggling and people being forced to make school decisions, waiting much wouldn't make sense.

What's a D5?

D5 is something VCU offers to some students each year, letting them take 15 credits with the current D1's, and if they get B's or better, they will join the following years D1 class and not have to take those 15 credits. So, it is basically a 5 year program.

I can confirm this. I know of an in-stater who got a call thursday. I don't know if he has completed his calls yet or not.
