Can anyone shed some light on this update:

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 15, December 15, at the end of January, and mid-March.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in mid-March, or to notify you that the committee will no longer be considering your file. However, this page will have a message at the top indicating each time offers are made.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

Yea I have the same message...it means that you will be sent an e-mail that will send you to your status page if anything changes (i.e. acceptance or rejection)...until one of those 2 decisions are made on your file, you will not hear anything...when did you interview there? Are you in-state?

Yep, just to add to that, in case you didn't know, this is the message that every applicant gets after their file is reviewed (unless they are outright rejected)--it isn't like some people get in right away and some get put on hold. Shortly (no one is quite sure when, but it should be early Feb.) VCU will send emails to a bunch of people letting them know to look at their status page (those lucky people are accepted). The rest stay on hold till the last notification in March, then the remaining people are formally waitlisted.

*phew* so it isn't a "bad" update?
...hopefully I'll hear Feb 1?
I'm in state and interviewed in early Jan, you?

hey there, I'm out of state and interviewed in Nov (I didn't get in last time they made offers).
But yes, just to clarify, if you just interviewed and got the hold email, all it means is that they have presented your file to the committee and you will be up for acceptance in Feb and March. This is definitely not a bad update. Some people get a rejection email, so you already cleared that hurdle.
Good luck :luck:

Has anyone noticed that the info in previous VCU threads indicates that the chance to get in after interview is better than 2:1? You all should appreciate the note that you have received. In case official rejection exists, anything besides is good. It should subsequently be followed by better good-news. But one may have to wait until it is as late as May or even a few days before school starts in late July. Last year, the wait list for out-of-state applicants moved very well because people chose other schools instead. Eventually, it looked like everyone got in VCU. The two nice ladies who didn’t make it had already been accepted at DO schools. There are many more interests here this year. I wish everyone that note.

Anyone, especially the one with excessively good numbers who is really interested in VCU, must tell her so. Otherwise, you will most likely be rejected. I have a feeling that, just like Mike Tyson, the school refuses to lose.
