Hello, I would just like to know if anyone has already interviewed at VCU And if you have, what time were you free to go. I'm hoping they don't keep you later than about 2pm since you have to be there at 7:30am...anyway, any impressions on what you liked or disliked would be helpful too! Thanks.

I'm sure there are some of you that have already interviewed here, please let me know...I need to purchase my airline ticket.

Bump

oh yeah, post a reply too! 42 People have viewed this thread and no one knows about VCU?

I know nothing about VCU in particular, but I would schedule my flight for as late as possible. You definately don't want to rush through the interview since you're running late for a flight. Also, remember to factor in checking into the airport and travel time.

Q: What is the interview process like?

A: The VCU School of Dentistry interview process begins each September and runs through the following February. There is a break for the Holidays from the second week of December until the third week in January. Interviews occur Monday through Fridays and begin at 7:30 AM promptly each morning. Each candidate will receive three individual one-on-one interviews -- two by faculty members and one by a senior dental student on the Admissions Committee. Each interview lasts up to 30 minutes. The set of interviews is followed by a presentation by our Financial Aid Coordinator. Another senior dental student is assigned to the group interviewing for that day and takes the candidates to lunch and a tour of the campus and dental school. If time is available, the candidates will spend time observing a senior dental student administering care to a patient in the Dental Clinic. The interview process usually runs to about 2:00 PM each day.

I got this off the VCU website's FAQ section. I would schedule a later flight and grab some dinner in Richmond, just in case they decide to keep you a few hours past 2. Take a look around the city and see if you like it.

Here's the thing, I'm wanting to rend a car from Raleigh airport because I have an interview at UNC on Saturday, then one in Richmond on Monday. I'm hoping I'll be able to make the drive to catch a fight back to Salt Lake by 6:00PM Richmond time. It's much cheaper to buy a roundtrip ticket rather than 3 one-way tickets. I think I'll have enough time...Anyone ever driven from Richmond to Raleigh? How long does it take?

Did you get that off of mapquest (like I've already done) or have you actually driven the route. I know that sometimes mapquests approximations are not what it actually takes...

2.5 hours is about right from Chapel Hill to Richmond. It's basically a straight shot up I85. Traffic is pretty bad in Richmond and there's a ton of construction in Durham, so you might want to allow a bit more time.

I was there yesterday. You get off about 2:30pm but we didn't have a financial aide talk so you should plan on adding 30 min for that.
