Can someone confirm the dates of orientation and when did you receive the Orientation package? Thanks!

Orientation for P1 students starts on August 21. I received my packet on June 30th. Has anyone selected from the VCU waitlist received their Financial Aid Award Letter yet?

it seems like everyone got pulled off the alternate list except me !@!@!@!1!

My science gpa was 3.50 and my cum. was 3.7. My PCATs were 47 (really bad).

One member gets in with the worst PCAT scores ever and a mediocre GPA. Two other members from out-of-state get pulled off the alternate list at a program that barely has any out-of-state students, and there's no chance that I'll get pulled off at this point in time since school commences in a month. wtf?! I even quit working at the pharmacy because I figured I'd get in, which was a huge mistake in itself.

I even e-mailed Dr. Reinder's two months ago because I had trouble getting a hold of him over the phone during the summer and I never got a reply. 😡😡😡😡

Gosh, this is a long shot, but do you think it might be.... gee, how do I put this...... maybe it's your attitude? Here in this forum, you exude an entitlement mentality, as in "I deserve this more than you do."

Demonstrate that to me when you appear before my board, and I'll be one of the first one to tank you. A little humility goes a long, long way.

I exude such a mentality because I worked for it. My stats are above average, I've worked two jobs while juggling 7-8 classes every semester, and have been the head leader of a Elderpartner program in my district and have numerous volunteer activities which wasn't all about padding my application. I've also had really difficult circumstances in my personal family life thrown at me during the last 2-3 years and I've overcome those while dealing with the barrage of work just like everyone else.

The persona I exude online is nowhere near what I am like in real life but with the anonymity of an online forum I can have my say when it comes to my frustrations with getting into pharmacy school. My interview also went very well and my interviewer also complimented me because I was the last one to be interviewed and he even went as far as to say that he was pretty impressed. No, I didn't walk in with an arrogant attitude to brag about my accomplishments but shared my modest opinions on my experiences as work, what observations I've made, and how I prioritize my life, etc.

I don't necessarily feel entitled, but when I personally know a lot of the applicants who have been accepted and read posts from a few on this forum , I can't help but be a little frustrated when I've worked so hard, but at the same time, I'm not saying that others haven't.

It's my fault though. I should have applied to other schools but I came to VCU as an undergrad with no other reason than to get into their pharm program which makes it all the more frustrating.

Ah.

So you realize, the things that separate them from you are the personal statement and interview?

And they got in and you didn't.

As my teenagers would say, "So..... what have we learned?"

That their father or mother makes too many insinuations.

I've spoken to the dean over the phone recently to inquire about what I need to do in order to improve and he told me that my interview scores and comments were great. As for my personal statement, I had it reviewed by the pharmacists I work with and my English professors so it wasn't a complete catastrophe. He gave me general advice and told me to raise my GPA and apply early when my GPA is already near perfect.

It doesn't matter now since I'll be applying to other schools.

<shrug> Whatever.

Clearly, you've got all the answers, and those of us who've been there, done that don't appreciate how incredibly special you are.

Guess that "near perfect GPA," your "great interview and comments," and your personal statement weren't enough to overcome your other..... shortcomings.
