does anyone know if VCU screens applicants before sending out secondary apps? i've been complete there for a LONG time and haven't heard a word from them. I'm thinking I should probably call this week.

please post if you know either way.

Without any doubts, They do screen.

It couldn't hurt to call them or email Dr. Heldberg and ask her. She usually has tons of emials but should get back to you within the week.

They do screen. I believe they told me they have an MCAT requirement of 25 or 27. They also screen for other factors like volunteer experience and disciplinary action.

if you check out the princeton review profile, they have more specifics on the screening.

When they recieved my AMCAS, I got a letter in the mail saying to expect word in 7-14 days whether or not to complete a secondary. (I got a secondary, yay!)

They also sent me an e-mail when they changed my status on the website. (www.admissions.som.vcu.edu)

From Princeton Review:
"About 75 percent of AMCAS applicants who are Virginia residents are sent secondary applications, and about 40 percent of nonresidents are sent secondaries. Applicants returning secondary applications are further screened, and some are invited to interview on campus. "

Also, I think something I read said that they interview 60% of those returning secondaries. True?

Hope this helps!

thank you all very much, that helps a lot.
