Hi,

I had an interview with VCU/MCV 3 weeks ago and still have not heard anything. They did say 2-4 weeks but I've been on edge for the past 3 weeks. Did anyone interviewing on March 11th get their acceptance (or rejection) letter yet?

When did you send in your PharmCAS? I applied back in October and I have yet to hear from them. Hmm.... might call them up tomorrow to see what's going on. Are you in-state?

I sent in my PharmCAS at the very beginning of January but PharmCAS didn't get my paper application UPSed out until February 13. VCU called me on Feb 22 to set up an interview for Mar 11. I'm just waiting to hear back now. Yes I am in-state, how about you? You said you haven't heard from them yet, do you mean you had the interview but haven't gotten the letter yet or you haven't had an interview yet?

WOW!! That is quick!! What the.... is going on???? 😡 I am from Florida. Nope, no interiview at all. Nothing!! I know it is a public school so it seems logical that they will admit more in-state than out-of-state students. Is this your first-choice school?

Yes, most definitely is my first choice. I honestly think they have to admit mostly in-state students. I think they will admit 110 in-state students and at most 20 out-of-state students. Yes, I was elated when they called me a week after receiving my paper application from PharmCAS. I was worried b/c it took PharmCAS so long to get it out.

I also applied to Shenandoah Univ and they contacted me and told me they received my app after the deadline (Feb 1) even though I e-submitted on-time. I thought that as long as I make the PharmCAS deadline that it would be considered on-time but I explained that whole situation to Shenandoah so they put a note in my file to make an exception. They also asked me if I would be interested in doing my first year at George Washington Univ since they have this joint program where GW's senior undergraduate year in Pharmacogenomics would be equivalent to SU's first Pharmacy year. So I told them I would be happy to do that and GW contacted me. If I get into MCV though, I will turn down GW.

MCV stands for Medical College of Virginia. It is the Health Science graduate school of VCU. It includes Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, and other Allied Health Science majors. Well, a professor from GW sent me an email and told me I will have to send in an application to GW online, but the application for GW isn't due until June 30 so I will wait to find out about MCV first. I will submit the GW application ONLY if I don't get into VCU. Hopefully that won't be the case! Congrats on your NOVA admissions!!!

Hey! I had my interview on March 11th also! and nope i havent heard from them! but THIS IS WEEK 4 so maybe...just maybe..........

My tour guide said that VCU will most definitely notify you either way though so if you havent been contacted yet...it may be a good sign (because at least it's not a rejection)

I interviewed at VCU back in November and they told me that I would hear something in a couple of weeks. I called in February and they said "No news is good news". So don't feel too bad!

i spoke to the lady at VCU SOP yesterday and she explained that they just finished interviewing so they will be making final decisions soon so we should all hear something by the end of the month.

I called on Friday and she said that the admissions committe had JUST decided on me on Thursday and that after the dean approves/signs off, which should be tuesday/wednesday, they will mail my letter.
and "the end of the month" is this week!! so good luck everyone!!! I hope to see all of our names on the VCU Roll Call!!

and also....has anyone even been rejected from VCU yet?? It seems that everyone I've talked to has either been accepted or waiting forever.

I've called and talked to the Dean Reinders once already and I'm scared to called back for fear of being thought of as a pest. I hope you're right that we'll see our names on the VCU Roll Call.

Yeah, a few people got rejection letters during the past week or so. I still haven't heard from them since my interview in Nov. so hopefully, I'll get something in the mail this week since it's the only school that I applied to.

I still haven't heard anything from VCU yet so at least I haven't been rejected. I have an interview with Shenandoah University on May 17th for the Ashburn campus. Caz Clowe told me that if accepted, I will be starting there as a P1 and then do P2 and P3 in Winchester, so I don't have to go in as a GWU junior as they originally wanted!!!

I still haven't heard anything either. It's about to drive me nuts. I have to move by the end of June and it takes a while to close on a house. VCU may be one of the best pharmacy schools but they sure are slow at letting some of us know something.

I would hate to unethusiastically answer redundant questions and not to mention the dreadful prospect of another year of undergraduate school makes the situation worse.

My parents recently moved from nova to out-of-state, and its supposed to arrive at their house. Hopefully, it'll be good news.

well school info says that an interview is required to be accepted. At least you know now how the interview process is and what type of environment it is so you can be sure to nail the interview. since you already have everything else ready to re-submit, i would just apply as early as possible and you'll be a guaranteed candidate!!!

Got a letter stating I am on the alternate list today. So that gives a pretty slim chance of being part of the 2010 class. Not to bust anyone's bubble, but if you didn't get a letter around 4/29, anything else probably isn't an acceptance letter. I would be happy if someone would tell me that is not true.

Got the rejection letter today. I'm not really that disappointed. I was just wanting lower tuition and to be a little closer to the 'rents. I just wish they would have let me know a little sooner. I could have already found a house, daycare, ect....... Now I'm very excited about being a Wingate Bulldog!!!! 🙂

That is so odd. You got accepted to Wingate and rejected by VCU....and I got rejected by Wingate and alternate listed at VCU. Really don't know what these schools are looking for. 😕
