I posted this in the pre-dental forum, but would like to get the opinion of those who are attending/attended dental school. It would also be helpful to hear the opinions of those attending these respective schools.

OK, so I just got the call and found out I was accepted to Creighton through the RDEP program (for Utah residents). This puts me in predicament since I have already committed to VCU. Costs between the two schools will be negligible when fees and living expenses are factored in. I would really like to hear what people have to say about choosing between these two schools in the following areas:

1. Clinical experience.
2. Ability to specialize (I don't know if I want to specialize, but I would like to go to a school that would give me a good chance to specialize if I decide to do so).
3. Overall experience (ie. student satisfaction, living in Omaha or Richmond, etc.)
4. Anything else you can think of.

I am only a D-1 in my second semester at VCU but I will answer as best I can.

1. Clinical experience: VCU just changed their curriculum. We are seeing our first patient this semester (D-1 year) and will be prepping and restoring by this coming fall. We are learning things D-2s previously learned. I think this will enhance the clinical experience a LOT even though the courseload and labwork this semester is really intense.

2. VCU is the only dental school in VA and has great research opportunities. They have a fairly high placement rate as well in specialties.

3. I LOVE VCU. We are treated like professionals. Everyone has a lot of faith in us and as long as you avoid the east side of Richmond like the plague, it is a very nice place to live.

4. Just ask if you have any more questions.

i would like to hear more on this exact subject as well. i was just accepted to VCU and i'm waitlisted at Creighton thru IDEP.
