So, I am a FL resident (still waiting on UF as I am on the waitlist) already sent the deposit to Rutgers ($2500) and just got an acceptance with a scholarship to VCU ($80,000). ???

I would deposit at VCU if I were you - cheaper, nicer weather in VA, closer to home for you, and Richmond >> Newark. Rutgers and VCU both have excellent programs, but I was NOT a fan of Newark.

i'd take VCU mostly because I don't like Newark. Doesn't VCU let you get instate tuition after a year or something?

What are your stats, if you don't mind?

I have heard that is hard to become a Virginia resident. With the scholarship I think that I would be paying less than a resident.

After doing some calculations it turns out that VCU is still more expensive than Rutgers after the scholarship. At the beginning, I wasn't adding Room/Board and Transportation, with the addition of those fees there is a considerable difference. Correct me if I am wrong, it's hard to estimate all these numbers...

Nope! At my interview they said it is basically impossible to gain residency.. All of the OOS kids' hearts slowly began to sink lol

Sounds like Rutgers would be cheaper, I would go with that.

Hahaha yeah, I don't know if we were in the same interview but the same thing happened. I am at a crossroads here with these two...

@lr2014 how much is Rutgers tuition? I think VCU was around $90grand (with personal expenses included) and with your scholarship you would have around $280grand in debt (correct if I'm wrong)..so try to see what the expenses will be for Rutgers in comparison. I'm a Florida resident too but I got into my dream school which happens to be out-of-state, but I wish I could pay UF's tuition for it lol! Congrats on your acceptances! 🙂

I remember rutgers costing something around 90k also for OOS. Go to VCU, so I am one seat closer to getting off that dang waitlist! How's that for logic 😉 All kidding aside, congrats on the acceptances, very cool you are in a position like that.
