I am from NY and have been accepted to VCU, UMDNJ, and NYU for the class of 2014:soexcited:. I'm pretty sure that I'm leaning more towards VCU and UMDNJ, but can anyone provide any feedback about these schools so I can finally make a decision 😕🙁. Clinical experiences, social atmosphere, surrounding area, curriculum, prep for the boards, etc. I want to know the as much as possible, good, bad, ugly, you name it I want to know...fire away!!!! PLEASE!!! :help:

VCU is really clinically oriented and gives students a good preparation for clinical work. That being said if you are interested in research it probably isn't the school for you. Also, the graduates at VCU have a really high rate of acceptance into specialty programs (not sure the year to year average but Dr. Healy said last year it was 100%) I don't know a whole lot about UMDNJ or NYU but hope this helps a little!

UMDNJ also doesnt focus on research and if you live in NY then you prob know the dangerous area of Newark,NJ

Most dental schools are in the ghettos, VCU is in richmond, it's not really known for being the safest part of the country.
We need to focus on quality of education, i won't comment since i am biased toward VCU.

Nope not really interested in research, more concerned with clinicals and which school would be more of an enjoyable experience...

I have been to both ,richmond and newark. I thought Richmond was much better.
haha join class of 2014 facebook groups of both dental schools and see who will be in your class. you can also check class of 2013,12,11 groups to see what type of students each school has and what type of discussions they engage in more often...eg: partying/education etc. 🙂

I hope you're joking. Basing a decision off of a facebook group?
