Hey, regarding this question:
Velocity of nerve impulse conduction in a sensory nerve fiber is related to:
a: intensity of the stimulus
b: presence of a mylein sheath
c: nature of applied stimulus
d: cross-sectional area of the axon

the answer listed is D. Is this correct? I am under the impression that diameter of the nerve fiber and presence/absence of myelin sheathe are the two factors that influence velocity of impulse conduction.

Please advise.

However, I agree with you that B is also a very plausable answer (myelinated nerves transmit impulses faster than unmyelinated)

Hey do you guys know what the hell is going on with the new board scoring scale?
I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place cuz I'm taking my boards next week and applying to OS programs, which means that my scores are being compared to applicants with scores from the old tests.
And from speaking with my advisor at my old dental school, this years boards scores were a lot lower than the past years. Do you think the OS directors have any clue about this (cuz they really don't have to worry about it until next year when they will see a lot more of the new format scores).

From where did u get this question? and when u say the answer given is d then plez specify which year was this question asked in the boards just to be sure that the answer selected by the baords is d.Sorry, I'm not trying to question you but just want to be sure if the answer was selected by the boards.
