I know I'm not alone here...
I'm a healthy guy, but unfortunately suffer from varicose veins and venous stasis. Left leg is bad--i.e. I'm already starting to have skin changes, pigment deposition, and worst of all, it hurts like hell. I try and stay off it when not at work, elevate, etc. I try to wear compression stockings, but am not faithful about doing it every day. The purpose of this thread is twofold; first off, does anyone have any brand/strength recommendations on what type of stockings to use (and are they even effective), and #2, shoudl I pursue consultation with vascular surgery for evaluation for possible surgery?

TIA

I don't have those kind of issues, but my colleagues who do sometimes wear those Jobst stockings. They're supposedly way better than the TEDs, but they're basically the same thing (just more expensive).

It sounds like you would really benefit from an evaluation by a Vascular Surgeon. You don't want that chronic venous stasis disease to turn into them nasty ulcers, do you? It'd be hard to take call wearing Unna boots. 🙂

Raji baby!!! How u doing? Hope things are good in NM, say hi to the wifey for me. I reccomend JOBST 20-30 knee highs. Get fitted to find out if you are a large or medium. You should also get some wig glue. The people you buy your stockings from should be able to tell you how to use it to keep the stockings form riding down your legs during the day.

If you need sx dont just do some vein stripping you probabally have incompatent perforaters and these need to be addressed, preferabally with SEPS.

later man.

thanks fellas---looks like my insurance will even pay for the jobst stockings, and I've got a vascular appt. coming up in march.

p-diddy,

things in NM are good. I've logged about 120 major cases for credit so far this year. not working too hard. Em and I are leaving for Hawaii on Sunday for our delayed honeymoon. Hope all is well with you in Ohio--you planning on going to any conferences or reunions any time soon?
