Hi I've been taking the AAMC pratice exams and my verbal score is all over the place. I hit a 10 last week on AAMC 6 and then dropped to a crappy score. It's averaging out to a 6, which sucks. I'm wondering if there is any way for me to reach a decently high score or to improve the verbal section quickly somehow. My test is on the 4th and I dont know what to do... thanks

(I got a 6 on AAMC#10..)

I suggest you take the MCAT, but void it. You shouldn't get it scored since a 6 in VR will get you nowhere. Also, there is no verbal technique that can raise your score in a couple days. VR relies heavily on practice.

So you suggest to still take it?...why not just cancel and get a new date?...
...or else your thinking that there is an advantage in just taking it to get the feel of a 'real MCAT'?...

how bad would it look if i kept the score and then re-took the test, if needed?

It depends on how bad. If you score a 6, it will put you in a bad position. In general, retakes are frowned upon without a significant increase (4 points or more, ie outside the margin of error).

I'd suggest a cancellation if the person could get their money back. However, it's too late for that. So might as well get the MCAT experience.

A word of caution: I also scored a 10 on AAMC 6, a 6 on AAMC 10 (actually there's a mistake in there so that bumped me up to a 7) and ended up with a 5 (my lowest score EVER) on my real deal....be careful. Void it.

I might do post-bac to raise my gpa, but if not, its still going to be next cycle.. how bout u??

When I first started studying I was doing pretty okay in verbal, averaging 9-11. Now all of a sudden my verbal scores are dropping to 6-8's and I don't know what to do. It seems that no matter how hard I try I miss at least 4 questions on every passage, before I would miss no more than 1 on each passage. I'm getting around 12's and 13's for PS and BS so verbal is completely killing me right now. Did this happen to any of you?? Is doing a LOT of verbal practice going to help??
