Hi, just a question about the "assumption" types of questions in verbal.

I had this question on EK 101:

So I chose the answer that was an "assumption" aka something that is presumed/taken for granted/not explicitly stated. The question written by EK even said an "unstated assumption". But then they chose an answer that was a clearly stated sentence/idea... Wtf? lol

So im just wondering for AAMC, how do they treat such questions?

I remember this question. I just looked at it again and it seems it wasn't explicitly stated (verbatim) and therefore the paraphrased answer choice can be correct. Just like their answer explanation states, you shouldn't discount an answer just because it says "unstated".

Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen an assumption question be wrong just because it was stated in the passage. As long as it is accurate and supported it seems like it'll be the right answer.

This is what makes me wary of the EK 101 for the new MCAT. 1/3 of all the passages (the nat sci) in the book are no longer relevant to the exam and the convoluted, illogical justification of their answers means I can learn nothing useful from that q, Is there anything for new CARS section in the same vein of EK 101, but better?
