ughhhh.
idk where to start.
im planning to take the mcat either in may or june.

when i was practing verbal last week or past few weeks, (im doing with EK 101)

i was easily scoring 10s and above

for yesterday and today, i got really bad somehow (i mean getting like 8s? or 7s?)

wtf right?

can someone give me advice on what to do?

is it just the passages got harder? or is it just me? 🙁

helpppp

You have not detailed enough of what went wrong - but if you scored above 10 and now find yourself with an 8, that is within a small margin of error - you are not bombing the passages. I believe the section is hard and requires a novel approach (no pun intended) with being able to swallow a few bad passage scores to get the big picture together.

National scores are around 8 and this is indicative of pre med students who are not accustomed to guessing or having intuition about passage style - with enough practice you will get better at this gut feeling. I have done much of EK 101 and liked the book and found it helpful. Do more of them and let us know how you perform on average (like with 10 passages, whats your overall average).

Don't worry, happened to me too. I went from a 10 to a 12 in two weeks with EK101, then dropped down to a 7 on my next tests and my score slowly went back up. It might be that you're becoming a little overconfident when you're reading, because you know you're improving so much, and then you miss a few little things.

Just don't stress out, keep plugging at it, take more EK101's/other good verbal sections and the scores will come. Stressing and worrying about it won't make it any better.

I wouldn't worry about your score at this point. What I am concerned about is that you're going through good verbal practice material this early. Unfortunately, there isn't even close to enough verbal practice material to continue at a good pace for a May or June test date. You really need to concentrate your verbal practice 3 months before your test date and not touch the stuff before then. Heck, there's barely enough good verbal practice material for three months.

But is it even possible to improve in verbal in 3 months by a "monster amount?" I ask because I feel that I need all of the time to improve and I mind as well start early. So I do 3 passages a day from a variety of books, EK and Kaplan for now. Then PR and BR when I get the books. Is this bad strategy?
