Verbal Woes

I have a really tough time coming up with the "main idea" when i read a passage. I feel like once I can do that my score should dramically increase, but till then I'm always struggling with the questions, and not finishing on time.

I have been working with EK 101, very test like, but like I said I'm struggling.

Any pointers on how to pick out the main idea?

In the Kaplan class, they tell you to map the passage as you read. write a sentence or few words about each paragraph as you read them. at the end, you might be able to pick up on the main idea....Hope this helps!
