Hi,

In the vet experience and animal experience sections they ask for contact phone numbers. I was wondering if adcoms call and check on all of these? I'm having trouble finding recent phone numbers for some of my older contacts.

Any other advice on what should or shouldn't be in these sections, feel free to post here! 🙂

They do not have the time to call all of the references in all applications.

Im not sure they call...it would seem that they barely have time to read everyone's application, let alone call and verify every experience for every applicant. I did find it odd that they are making us put phone numbers down tho. They didn't do that on last year's application, so I wonder what their reasons are.

Yeah. I'm having similar issues getting current contact information for one of my older (and lengthier) high school animal experiences. After a couple months of sending emails and calling wrong numbers, I suppose the only thing I can do is list the most recent info I have and hope for the best 🙁

Good luck with your situation.

Oh really? UGA seemed to call my references. YMMV.
Yes really 🙂
Good for them👍
That is not the norm though.

(read what I said...They do not have the time to call all of the references in all applications.)

PS What is YMMV?

I think that's the only one I've heard of calling. (Just from reading stuff on this forum for about a year, not through any more thorough investigation.)

Your Mileage May Vary. 😉

I figured out that you don't have to actually add a phone number (it will let you save your info without it) so if you don't have a reliable contact number you may want to consider leaving the phone number blank. I did that for one old reference; I wanted to mention the experience but I have no contact info for her (she moved out of state).

You're right, they probably don't call too many of the references of ancient/unrelated jobs. But, in my opinion, it is worthwhile to call references on all 97 people they intend to accept, like UGA did. They can call the wait-listed references at their convenience.
