I submitted my application today in order to my essays as finely tuned as possible. Last year I did this with no issues regarding verification. I applied to another school this year and I noted an email AFTER I had paid for my application that all non-verified applicants will not be considered.

I do recall seeing anything that stated the 4 week verification period until I had completed payment and the school's emails always said to submit by September 15th for consideration until an email sent out earlier this week.

Did I just get screwed out of $200?

Verification time period varies. There were a few students that posted on here saying they submitted their application last week and got verified this week. But it really depends on how many applications VMCAS has to go through at the time that you submit. Additionally if you applied last year and transferred over the information (ie verification of your transcript from last year) it most likely will be a quicker process since there is less to verify.

My assumption is that the school will just not start looking at your application until you are verified. If it is Midwestern for example, it makes sense since they do rolling basis for interviews so they wouldn’t look at your app until it is verified. Not sure what school you are specifically referring to that sent the email. A lot of students apply close to deadline and have no issue with applying to schools - schools know that you can be verified after the Sept deadline.

I sure hope so. My application got verified 2 days after I submitted last year so I'm banking on that but that's unlikely. I would just hate to not be considered because of a small clause they sent out after the 2 week mark.

Hello,
This is my first year applying and I am confused about the verification process. All of the transcripts, LORs, and transcript entries have been in for weeks and I submitted my VMCAS applications last week. My main concern is if certain colleges do not accept your application if it is not verified as well as submitted by Sep. 15th. My status is still completed and the Sep. 15 deadline is tomorrow. Virginia-Maryland states in their emails that the application does not have to be verified by the 15th just submitted with all required materials. Is this the same for all schools? Will my application not be looked at if not verified by the 15th? I have tried looking up the answer, especially for my top choices like The Ohio State and Penn Vet but can't find any definite answers. Any information would be much appreciated.

I applied to my schools (including some of the schools you listed) close to the deadline (3 years ago at this point though) and was not verified until after the deadline. I didn’t have any issues from schools saying they wouldn’t accept my submission or anything like that due to the date of my verification and did receive interview requests. If you are concerned, you can call admissions and confirm. Almost every school admissions I interacted with was extremely nice and helpful.

Friends. Be calm and do not panic.

Clarify with each school you applied to what their policy is. I've heard a rumor some want you verified by the deadline, but I've never seen that confirmed to be true. (If someone wants to chime in with specific schools that told them that, drop their names on the thread so others will know.)

Honestly would be kind of surprised if it was - you can't control the verification process timeline after you submit to VMCAS. That seems like it would open VMCAS and the schools up to potential liability for refunds unless VMCAS instituted some mechanism to guarantee that your app would be verified by the deadline.

Your app is guaranteed to be verified by October 13 at 5 pm if everything is in order - thats when schools expect all apps to be complete by for them to review.

Some schools definitely offer rolling interviews, so you do run the risk that a class will be largely full by the time your app is verified if you submit it last minute.

I submitted my app like 10 minutes before the deadline. It even got returned during the verification process in October for me to fix something. I was not verified until the middle of October. I do not recommend this as a life strategy because you run the risk something will go wrong at the last minute that you can't fix (site crashed, payment declined etc), but in terms of verification it will be fine a long as your application is complete.

And even if you just hosed yourself somehow... take a moment to acknowledge your frustration and then try to let it go. Panicking is not useful if there's nothing you can do to fix the situation. Instead figure out your plan moving forward and focus on that.
