Sort of a last minute decision but I've decided to apply to a DO school this cycle. I have my personal statement for the MD schools I applied to but I would like to write a different one for this particular DO school. I obviously need to get my application verified as soon as possible but don't want to apply earlier at the expense of my personal statement. Is it possible to get your application verified without completing the personal statement? Am I allowed to verify without applying to any schools and then make changes later? Maybe just throw a placeholder personal statement in for verification? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to submit to at least one school to get it started. But that will give you several weeks to work on your PS before you're verified.

I agree with the above statemnet, send it in right now since you'll have plenty of time to tweak your PS until your verified.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the quick responses. So I can apply to just 1 school for verification (I'm assuming a school I'm not particularly interested in) and still make changes to the personal statement while AACOMAS verifies my app? Does that mean whatever I have as the personal statement when they finish is what gets sent out? After I'm verified I then have the option to apply to any other schools I want and the app gets sent out immediately correct? Thanks again for the advice.

Yep that's all correct. Just remember to try and apply in bulk, because each time you add schools the first is $50 and each successive one is $35. I couldn't make up my mind and ended up adding 3 schools at the end all at different times for $50 each shot.

Awesome, thanks for the tip.

I wish amcas worked this way. But unlike aacomas, they allow absolutely NO changes after submission. Lame.
