It could just be my nerves getting to me since the past 10 hours have been fairly stressful, but would interviewing late December (Dec 20th) have a negative impact on my chance at admissions?

I was scheduled to interview tomorrow at UVM. My flight back home got cancelled so I prepared to stay a few extra nights in Burlington. Then, my flight was delayed this morning to a connecting city so I would miss the flight to Burlington. The airline rep said that I could wait and see if I could get a spot on an 11PM flight, but that it was unlikely due to the increased volume of people trying to get on flights because of hurricane sandy.

In the end, I elected to reschedule my interview and the only dates available were in December during finals... I chose Dec 20th since it's after my finals.

I do realize that most interviewees at Vermont get placed on the waiting list after they interview...so would interviewing almost two months later have a negative impact on my application? I apologize if I'm being somewhat neurotic, but I realllllyyyy like the school.

Thank you.

You should explain your situation and the fact that you're very much interested in the school to the UVM adcom. If the school really cares about its prospective students, it'll be more than understanding. Good luck with everything.

Yes in that there'll be less spots available for acceptance. Earlier is always better. No in that you will still have a good shot. UVM interviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and Fridays?) for about 10-12 students, so you're looking at 7 weeks = 70 - 84 students who interviewed during this time. It's not terrible because the students I talked to at UVM interviewed around Jan - March, so there's definitely a good shot. It is what it is and you should go into it showing your best case nonetheless.

I contacted the school to see if I could schedule earlier and I was told that any interviews after Nov 13th (which I the date from which I could go since I have exams next week) would be reviewed in January. This means that it does not make a different whether you interview November 13th or as late as December 20th since it's all reviewed in January apparently.

Since I did miss the Nov 1st interview however, I am still one review session behind now. If I had been able to attend tomorrow, I would have been reviewed by the week of Nov 13th.

Someone needs to invent a teleporter! 😀
