I feel like I'm doing pretty poorly in EK 1001 Biology because I don't have a good grasp of the big picture - only on what I have reviewed. Does anyone know of a <50 page document that touches on all of the basic anatomy and physiology of a human? :luck:

do you have the ek biology book (not the 1001, the normal book)? that's about as precise as its going to get for physiology. there isn't any anatomy on the mcat...

I have EK Bio, and I'm working through it, but the corresponding passages in EK 1001 require bio knowledge beyond what was lectured on.

Just do the problems in the EK 1001 and keep going over the high yield things they say in the explanation like crazy and you should be good to go. The EK 1001 book and the EK Bio lecture book are organized chapter by chapter in each book in chronological order, so do not continue on through the book until you are content with the phase in which you were working on. If that does not work then go and buy TPR Biological Sciences book (Hyperlearning), because you are going to need that book in my opinioin to maximize your score anyway, so start now reading through it like a chapter a day and when you go back to EK to reinforce the material it will be a breaze because of the depth and growth the Princeton Review material takes throughout their chapters.

yea someone mentioned in another thread that the 1001 seems a bit out of order, related to the subjects in the normal book. i'd finish up the ek bio book completely before i started the 1001

I'm assuming you've had a biology class before. Why don't you use the book from that? I would take the time to review the systems in detail. I doubt you'll gain anything from a 50 page overview; going over the MCAT-relevant topics of your previous instruction would probably be your best bet.

YES! Finally TPR Hyperlearning Biological Science Review book gets some respect around here. If you can't get your hands on that in enough time then Wikipedia maybe?

Hope this helps,

I know they covered vision and hearing in EK biology, but have those topics ever showed up on the real MCAT?

Yes. I had them on a practice AAMC, so if they can show up there then they can probably show up on the real deal. Not to mention that they are on the list of material that should be known.

LoveofOrganic, you might want to look into MCAT pearls, it looks like a pretty solid book and would probably give you an insight into big picture anatomy and physiolgy. EK is good as well, but if you want more that's where I would go first.

That's what I have been doing. Sometimes the bolded info although they suggest it is a must know , have very little info about it. I have been relying on Wiki and my old book and seems to be working fine
