the university i applied to send me this by email and i have to include the following with my application letter

1)Certified copies of your academic transcripts;

2)A 500-word personal statement outlining your reasons and motivation
to become a veterinarian; how you consider your past studies and
experiences to be relevant to this; and why you believe you will succeed in
this course;

3)Specific details of any small or large animal-handling experience
should be included to support your application; and

4)A curriculum vitae and written references (supporting work experience
in the veterinary or related field) should also be submitted)

any advice please?

1)Certified copies of your academic transcripts;

>>>simple enough, no?

2)A 500-word personal statement outlining your reasons and motivation
to become a veterinarian; how you consider your past studies and
experiences to be relevant to this; and why you believe you will succeed in
this course;

>>>that is a pretty straight forward. 500 words is about a page, so just get straight to the point. what sparked your initial interest? what experience did you get to confirm this? what did you gain from each, etc etc.

3)Specific details of any small or large animal-handling experience
should be included to support your application; and

>>>again, very straightfoward and clear. list each experience, say what you did, what your responsibilities were.

4)A curriculum vitae and written references (supporting work experience
in the veterinary or related field) should also be submitted)

>>>thats basically a resume. get your written references early.

Which university is this? I'm just curious. Did you apply through VMCAS?

i wanted advice on how to make it look good when i submit my application. writing a personal statement is very different from the usual essays or reports i have to do. since it is my shot at vet school i want it to be as perfect as possible. so i am kind of appealing to those who have done it before on advice on wat to write in the statement? how do u address the person who is reading ur letter? etc etc

writing a CV is a bigger nitemare since my past jobs dun require a CV at all, so u can say i am absolutely clueless at it. i dun have references of any kind since wat i did was volunteering at the spca and abit of work with the zoo back in high school then i entered the army for 2 yrs plus and went straight to college.

i'm applying for murdoch university in australia

i thought i recognized the copy from your email.

i was admitted to murdoch in april. if you'd like, contact me via private message and i'll forward you a copy of my personal statement.

to answer your questions:
i didn't address the people i was writing to. i started out right away with my narrative. i didn't list my experience and accomplishments, per se, but i made a story of relevant experiences in my life that have brought me to this point, and tried to illustrate how they affected me. at the end i put a very simple, "thank your for your consideration."

i also got this from a friend:

i don't think the cv is necessarily vet-related. my first career was engineering, so i included all that stuff. as for vet experience, i put together and submitted a list of my volunteer work and what exactly i did. i don't think they require a ton of work, nor do i recall that it must be with a vet. i also submitted a list of non-veterinary volunteer work since my high school years. the cv is just a resume, at least that's how i interpreted it. zoo, army (especially) and school are fine for a cv/resume.

i got in on my first try, and since you're applying to murdoch, also, i'm happy to share all of this with you.

best wishes...
