Im applying for a full-time internship which begins next January at an equine hospital. If I get accepted to the program, I will be getting ~1200 hours of equine vet experience. However, the VMCAS is due in the fall, before the internship begins. How should I include the internship experience on the VMCAS if I get accepted into the program? In the explanation section? Or include it under vet experience with the start & end dates/hours per week? Or do I include the experience at all? 😕

If I remember correctly, VMCAS states you can not include future predicted hours. This would mean you could not put any hours for your internship starting in Jan '10 on your VMCAS that is to be submitted in Oct '09.

In the explanation section?

JMO....if you are accepted into your desired internship I would put it in your personal statement (possibly tie it to you interests and/or career goals) and explanation statement (explaining what you were accepted for and when as well as briefly mentioning what the program is about).

Also, I think this would be an excellent thing to bring up if you are invited to any interviews. Even if they don't ask you about it or "so what have you been up to", be sure to mention it someway, somehow.

I would put it in your personal statement with some sort of blurb about it showing your dedication to learning about all the different aspects of veterinary medicine, or continuing to work toward your goals or... something good-sounding like that. 🙂

I didnt know that, thanks!

Definitely check with VMCAS once they open up the application. A lot of the instructions are very fuzzy 😉 I remember something like you could estimate your hours as of December of that year maybe? I can't even remember now!
