So I know that most schools require you to submit all transcripts- However I went to a liberal arts school and did horrible. (First year living on campus)-which was a few years ago. My GPA was 1.1142 as a result I no longer go to that school- Will this GPA haunt me for the rest of my life?

I am now enrolled in a new school- and taking pre req courses for vet school getting A's and B's.

Do you think the admission staff in US schools will be forgiving?

Please let me know

That is highly dependent on the school. Some only care about your prereq GPA, some consider everything, some put more emphasis on science GPA and last 45 credit GPA. I've read a couple schools will let you petition to get things overlooked. Some let you retake classes and replace the grades, some average the two. It also depends on how many credit hours you took to get the 1.whatever GPA. It's easier to raise a GPA earned on just a couple credits than overcoming a whole degree's worth of poor performance.

Those GPA numbers you earned won't ever really go away so yes, you are kinda stuck with them for life, but if you do research into each school's grade policies and apply smartly (i.e. Don't apply to a place that really likes high cumulative GPAs) I don't think you're completely screwed. It can be done if you work at it. It just might not be as easy as someone who had a high GPA.

It will be much better to be upfront about your grades rather than try to hide them and have them come up sometime during the application process.

Like Jayna said, you can do some research and look into what schools will be most forgiving of your past grades. As long as you are doing well in your prereqs that's the most important.
