I've heard about the 2016 couple, Emiloo, but don't know who it is. My class seems to be full of couples. Let's see...FIVE 2015 couples that started dating each other after vet school started (that I can think of), one that started dating before vet school, at least two people are dating people from other classes, and one is dating a resident.

Like someone else said, I need to be able to separate business and pleasure. I don't think I would do well in a relationship with someone that's in my class. I need to meet a nice human doctor, or professional athlete, or movie star.

Me too, Bearby. Me too

Also- TONS of inappropriate relationships (i.e. professors leaving their spouses for vet students when their spouse is also a professor), residents dating (or using) vet students, etc. I know one student met and married a professor over the course of vet school.

Its like greys anatomy...but with animals...and probably less attractive people

bish... I'm more attractive. one of my lab mates (who is already a DVM with a residency under his belt preparing for boards) wants to date me like no other. He also has a standing job offer at the school. Meaning odds are when I'm a fourth year he'll be a clinical professor. :uhno:

I've always been a "don't crap where you eat" kinda gal in reference to relationships within my field... but I'm starting to wonder... If we were to meet in vet school, we'd definitely have a LOT in common... *ponders*

Nah.. Too much bad stuff could go wrong.

There are lots of couples at my school, at least 5 in my class alone. It makes for some messy breakups, especially when one/both parties go on to date other vet students..

Personally I would never want to date a fellow vet student, especially a classmate (once I've graduated, I would have no problem dating another vet though as long as we didn't work together). It's nice to be able to talk about something other than school with my SO, and not have to deal with someone else stressing about the same thing I'm stressing out about.

For real? Uff da.

Go State! :/

We have that resident too :uhno:

Oh Vetcest ... I swear I get 95% of my entertainment every week from the ridiculous gossip and shenanigans that go on between my classmates (and faculty/clinicians/residents/interns too)!!!!

I actively avoid trying to date anyone I am in class or at work with but, that being said, there isn't one single guy in my class. I can think of at least 18 couples in my year alone! If they showed up single they probably had a vet girlfriend by the end of first year; and half of those in LDRs broke up and got with vets shortly after ... it's pretty funny actually. And pretty much every vet I've ever worked with was married to another vet, the majority of who work in the same practice together. The one exception I can think of is a cardiology resident married to a large animal vet but she did manage to get a job near his residency so it worked out for them.

When you're stuck with the same group of people everyday for 4 years, romances are bound to happen, it is so much like high school it's scary sometimes haha. Also I think, for a lot of vets, it's hard to find SOs who understand the kind of course load and hell that is vet school, other than a fellow vet. Plus the pressure on you once you are working: job demands, lifestyle, debt-wise etc. the only people crazy enough to date us are equally crazy people 😉

I am still hoping to find a non-vet that can put up with my idea of "appropriate" dinner conversation tho, we'll see how that goes!! (Too bad I didn't snag myself a mate when I was in my engineering undergrad program! At least the ratio of males:females was in my favor then!!)

Ha! so many of us date engineers... it is almost a rule lol. I'm guilty of it 🙂
