Someone dropped out the first week and we never got a replacement. Does that make you mad? She was in state too 😉

A large part of the application process is an attempt by the school to weed out applicants who won't graduate if accepted into the curriculum. They look at academic performance to pick those students who can handle the course material and not flunk out. They look at veterinary experience to pick students who know what they're getting into and won't change their mind after starting the program.

Of course it's not perfect and most classes loose a few students due to academic performance or personal reasons. But in general the process works pretty well.

It might be a little frustrating for other students when someone drops out but I suspect it's a lot more stressful for the one who's flunked out, suffered a substantial personal problem preventing them from accomplishing their career goal or just realized they've made a terrible mistake and wasted a lot of effort.

Sure they took a spot that might have been offered to somone else. But everyone that is admitted is taking a spot from someone who didn't get acccepted.

So it's probably best just to focus on being one of the students that gets accepted.

darn i missed it. now i'm curious to know what they said. is it possible that they're not a troll but just a very ignorant person?

Well he said something to the effect of disliking people who go to vet school and then drop out for non-crisis reasons because it takes up spaces from real vet school students.

I dont think hes really a troll just a very blunt person with his opinions and doesnt always word them in the best way. You be the judge here are a few of his other posts.

In my opinion, a person who fails to control their weight is showing just as much a lack of effort as a person who only made B's and C's as an undergrad or 1000 on their GRE.

I don't really care to see who wants to do exotics, avian, aquatic, or zoo vet medicine. They make up such a small percentage of practicing vets anyways.

and in reference to so many people applying to UPenn
Is the "Barbaro Story" the reason for so many applicants?

I often wonder how they can let some of the people I have class with into vet school, when they make C's and B's in Biochem and Genetics.

I just wonder how all of these women are going to be able to help fill the void left by many retiring large animal and food animal vets

wow. all i can think of is this person needs to grow up and learn some tolerance. that *may* be a nice trait for a veterinarian to have anyway, no?

No. I have no tolerance and am doing fine in my veterinary career😀😀:meanie:

Tolerance is overrated. Respect is nice, though.
🙂

Crap. C's and B's in O-chem and Bio chem. I'm out. 😛

🙄
Well if that is the criteria- guess that means I'll end up being a vet school quitter too. We could have a club: future vet school quitters of america! We can have pizza parties like in pre-vet club.

:beat: :beat: :beat: I love those flies buzzing around the horse!

lawl. i heart mossy.

you guys need to chillax. seriously. the waiting period is hard, i know. but take a deep breath, some of you, and roll with it. cheese n rice!

Mossy's posts are surprising to say the least. It must be nice to be such an expert on vet school and the vet career field, without having succeeded in either. Anybody here not have vet "experience?" Anybody here accomplished something Mossy hasn't? From his posts, I can only assume that we should consider ourselves fortunate just to stand in his shadows. I can only pray that, for the sake of vet medicine, Mossy completes vet school and saves us all. No more equine concerns for any of us. Dang!! I guess that relegates me to parrot research. An ego like his is impressive to observe. I'm sure there are countless succesful vets that can't wait for him to come save their practice. Entitlement is just sad. Grow up already. Oh well, kids these days . . .

I never know what to say whenever I hear/see that "word". I liken it to being slapped in the face with a fish; you aren't sure what just happened, or even why, but you know something.. strange.. has come to pass.

It's okay, I don't think ANY of us will ever really make it to "Vet SCROOL" anyway.....

okay, i'm done now 😉
