Does anybody know anything about having veterinarians on set for movies and TV shows? I love all that kind of stuff and I was wondering whether there's any chance that a veterinary career could coincide with some thing in the film or TV industry.

Thanks for any insights you have!

Part of 'Hidalgo' was filmed near where I live back home....a couple of the vets that I worked for got to be the on-site vets during filming. I was quite jealous that I was away at school for that. 😛

I'd imagine that Mr. Ed had a regular veterinarian, and maybe Wishbone did as well, but it seems like it might be a bit hard to get into. I suppose you might have luck if you actively sought that sort of work out! You might have to be a bit of a transient to work with movies, though.

that's a tough one.

I don't know... give Animal Planet a call?

Might contact American Humane. I believe they provide certification for films as humane for animals and might be able to point you in the right direction.

You could try sending your resume to some production companies if there is specific movie being made that you are interested in. You can go on IMDB or IMDB pro and get contact info. I sent my resume to New Zealand when they were filming Lord of the Rings. I did some research, found the contact person and sent it off. Took a month but I did get a call back which shocked me. Must be a New Zealand thing. They were very nice to me. 😀
