Veterinary News Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not trying to start the for zoos/against zoos debate but I thought this was really cool. An elephant at the Oklahoma City Zoo is in active labor right now. They have a webcam set up so that you can watch if you want. They are expecting her to give birth tonight/tomorrow morning. If she isn't in view when you look at the live stream, give her a minute. She has been moving around her maternity pen a lot! Here is the link if you are interested: http://www.newsok.com/elephantnation

aw missed it! The calf has been born, and now there's only a pile of poo or something else brown and squishy on the floor.

Anyone else keeping an eye out on HR 525? It's the Veterinary Public Health Amendments Act of 2011. If passed, it would be kinda like the large animal vet incentive - they would forgive a portion of your student loans if you promise to work in public health for at least 3 years. There would also be a 4 year scholarship while you're in vet school. Yay!
