I'm not trying to start the for zoos/against zoos debate but I thought this was really cool. An elephant at the Oklahoma City Zoo is in active labor right now. They have a webcam set up so that you can watch if you want. They are expecting her to give birth tonight/tomorrow morning. If she isn't in view when you look at the live stream, give her a minute. Anyone else keeping an eye out on HR 525? It's the Veterinary Public Health Amendments Act of 2011. If passed, it would be kinda like the large animal vet incentive - they would forgive a portion of your student loans if you promise to work in public health for at least 3 years. There would also be a 4 year scholarship while you're in vet school. Yay!
