Veterinary Specialties

I'm a high school student interested in going into medicine (either veterinary or pharmacy most likely), and I'd like to know more about veterinary specialties. What are some of the different specialties? How is the pay for these specialties?

First off,

There are a good number of recognized specialties, but I don't know too much about most of them. If I end up pursuing one it will probably be zoological or behavior, so those are the only two I have much knowledge about in terms of process, qualification requirements, etc. However this page: http://www.avma.org/education/abvs/specialty_orgs/abvp.asp will tell you what the specialties are and give you links to their organizations. Those websites are often a good starting point for finding more about the field. I hope this helps a bit 🙂
